Trends in 12-Month Mortality and Healthcare Costs in Incident Metastatic Colorectal Cancer in Germany, 2011–2024
Moderate cost increase, no consistent survival gain: new ISPOR 2026 poster on metastatic colorectal cancer in Germany
Based on anonymized German statutory health insurance claims data from 2011 to 2024, the GIPAM team examined 12-month overall survival and inflation-adjusted healthcare costs in 14 annual cohorts of patients with incident metastatic colorectal cancer (mCC).
Standardized 12-month survival ranged between 80.7% and 86.7% with no obvious improvement in recent years, while costs per patient increased moderately from €38,225 to €44,782 (+17.2%). Inpatient care remained the dominant cost component throughout.
